This movie looks really amazing, and really funny.
But these posters are kind of irritating to me. I wonder if there will ever be a time when people will be inspired to go see an animated film not because of what “famous” actor is voicing the main characters.
What makes acting good? The facial movement? The blocking? The way the actor makes you feel? In an animated film, that’s the ANIMATOR’S job, not a currently popular film actor.
Maybe it’s their voice? The emotion they portray? Well, unless that actor has done voice-over work, maybe they are famous, but what if their voice isn’t all that emotive? What about the hundreds of AMAZING cartoon VOICE ACTORS who do cartoons and films every day and that are masters at portraying emotion audibly?
I’m sorry if I sound like some animation/film elitist/whiner, I don’t mean to be. But when I saw Kung-Fu Panda (an amazing film) I couldn’t even tell (or care) that Tigress was Angelina Jolie. But having her name on a poster SOLD TICKETS.
I’m sorry, but I think that sucks. I’m tired of hearing people only talk about animated films by who was in them. Who cares who it is? Were they good? Did that animation move you? Was the camera work good? Was there ambiance? Did you cry? Then who cares if some teen pop star voiced the lead?
